Jane Addams Middle School
Named for an American social worker and 1931 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Jane Addams Junior High School opened to great fanfare in 1949 at a cost of nearly $2,000,000 as one of the most impressive modern schools constructed in the state. Enrollment in 1952 soared to 2,000. Built in the International Style and offering the latest in amenities, the state-of-the-art auditorium even housed productions for the University of Washington and Civic Light Opera over the years. Addams was refurbished and reopened in 2014 with a new mascot—the Jaguar—and a mission to serve as “a community-centered, collaborative team, actively engaging students, families, and staff in a middle school experience dedicated to academic, social, and emotional growth for all.”
Nathan Hale High School
Home of the Raiders and a nationally recognized radio station, C89.5, Nathan Hale High School maintains a commitment that "all students become honorable, thinking, skillful citizens." Awarded a Silver medal and ranked near the top 10% nationally by U.S. News and World Report’s 2018 Best High Schools study, Nathan Hale offers a challenging curriculum, including AP tracks, a diverse population of just over 1,000 with a 1:19 student to teach ratio, as well as a mix of clubs and activities to enrich academic life. Built in 1963 by architects William Mallis and J.H. De Hart on land that once hosted the Meadowbrook Golf Course, the campus buildings were renovated and expanded in 2011 and boast an impressive library, new performing arts center and sports stadium.
